LIVETether is winding down its Alloy platform, a service designed to track the US dollar using Tether Gold as collateral. Users have until September 17 to return their aUSDT tokens. After this date, the recovery process that allows users to reclaim their gold will be shut down.
While early reports suggested a large amount of capital was at risk, the actual exposure is much smaller. Data from August 10 shows only five open collateral positions remain. These positions hold about 399,088 aUSDT in debt and 194.41 XAUT in gold collateral. This is a significant drop from the figures reported in June, showing that most users have already cleared their accounts.
Investors should note that the maximum total supply of 50 million aUSDT tokens does not represent the actual debt. Much of that supply remains unissued or idle in smart contracts. The active debt currently accounts for less than 1 percent of the total supply.
If you have an open position, you must pay back the full outstanding aUSDT balance to withdraw your gold. The platform charges a 25 basis point return fee for this process. Since there is no clear path to recover funds through the platform after the September 17 deadline, it is important for remaining users to act quickly.
