Aave risk service provider LlamaRisk recently proposed shutting down the decentralized lender on six different blockchains. The plan targets Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos. According to the proposal, Sonic, Scroll, and zkSync make less than $5,000 in quarterly protocol revenue. Metis, Soneium, and Aptos bring in even less, generating under $1,000 each. High operational and oracle support costs outweigh these earnings, prompting the push to exit.

The proposed exit strategy uses a staged approach to protect users and avoid sudden liquidations. Reserves on these networks would be frozen, and supply and borrow caps reduced. For reserves with active debt, the plan introduces a 99 percent reserve factor alongside a 5 percent base variable rate. This structure pushes borrowers to repay and encourages suppliers to withdraw funds by lowering yields over time.

While existing positions remain open for now, users could face further changes if balances do not drop fast enough. Later steps might include higher interest rate curves and adjusted collateral thresholds. The proposal is currently moving through the community feedback stage before facing a formal Snapshot vote and possible on chain implementation.
