Vitalik Overhauls Ethereum Roadmap for Quantum Safety

Ethereum co founder Vitalik Buterin says the network priorities changed so much since 2023 that he had to redraw his entire roadmap. On Monday, Buterin shared a side by side comparison of his old plan and the Ethereum Foundation new planning document, called the Strawmap, which outlines protocol upgrades all the way through 2029.

The biggest change is that quantum safety jumped straight to the front of the line. As quantum computing technology advances, developers want to make sure Ethereum stays safe against future attacks, pushing long term security measures up to earlier upgrade phases.
