LIVECrypto exchange KuCoin has reached a major milestone by passing 45 million registered users globally as it gets ready for its ninth anniversary. A new performance report backed by data platform CoinGecko shows the exchange now operates in more than 200 countries and regions. The update highlights how the platform grew from just 5 million users back in 2017 to its current size.
Along with user growth, the report points to several big regulatory achievements over the past year. KuCoin secured MiCAR licensing in Austria, registered with Australia as a digital currency exchange, and became the first global crypto platform to register with the Financial Intelligence Unit in India. The exchange also shared that it completed 44 straight months of Proof of Reserves reports with help from Hacken audits.
Trading activity stayed steady during the first half of 2026 despite slower market conditions. The platform saw daily spot volumes average $1.99 billion, while perpetual futures averaged $3.07 billion. Volumes surged during the February Bitcoin liquidation spike before settling back down. At the same time, traders on the platform rotated heavily into altcoins, pushing the combined spot share for Bitcoin and Ethereum down from 74 percent to 45 percent.
Looking ahead, traders should watch how KuCoin expands its tokenized stock futures and payments business. The exchange rolled out over 120 stock linked contracts in just a few months, covering major tech giants and even a pre ipo contract for OpenAI. Payments also grew quickly through services like KuCard and local partnerships, signaling a push toward real world adoption as the exchange enters its tenth year.
