SpaceX Eyes $1 Trillion Revenue By 2030 Despite Stock Drop
Elon Musk says SpaceX could hit one trillion dollars in yearly revenue a year early, even as heavy spending on artificial intelligence pushes shares down.
SpaceX expects to reach one trillion dollars in annual revenue by 2030, which is a year sooner than its previous forecast. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk shared the updated timeline during the company's first earnings call as a public company. He even noted a small chance that the milestone could happen by 2029.
Despite beating revenue expectations with 7.81 billion dollars in the second quarter, SpaceX shares slid roughly fourteen percent. Investors reacted strongly to massive capital expenditures that jumped to 18.37 billion dollars. Most of that money went directly into artificial intelligence infrastructure, including a new satellite partnership with Nvidia to place computing chips in orbit.
Starlink revenue climbed sixty six percent to remain the company's primary profitable segment, though average revenue per subscriber slipped. Traders will be watching closely to see if these aggressive artificial intelligence bets pay off before the next round of earnings, especially with a major share lockup expiration adding pressure to the stock this week.
