LIVEA volunteer group known as the Bitcoin Red Team is reporting a massive number of security flaws. By running AI models against wallets and crypto libraries, the team discovered 85 critical bugs and over 600 high severity issues across 390 different projects. The effort is coordinated by a developer known as Calle, who noted that the team is finding new issues at a rapid pace.
This spike in security reports is creating a new challenge for developers. Project maintainers are currently struggling to keep up with the sheer volume of incoming reports. The team behind the audit is now working to refine their process and filter out potential errors in their data to ensure project leaders can focus on the most dangerous threats first.
This project follows recent high profile security incidents in the industry, including a major exploit involving Coldcard hardware wallets. With AI becoming a more common tool for both attackers and defenders, the speed of finding bugs is accelerating quickly. Investors and users should watch for software updates from their favorite Bitcoin projects as maintainers work to patch these newly discovered vulnerabilities.
