LIVEAmerican Bitcoin reported a busy second quarter, mining 932 BTC and finishing June with a total reserve of 8,002 BTC. While the company successfully increased its holdings, the growth was heavily supported by selling shares rather than self funding operations. During the first half of the year, the firm generated over $144 million through equity sales to keep its liquidity strong.
Investors should note that the company's reserve is not entirely liquid. Nearly 39% of the stash, or 3,090 BTC, is currently classified as restricted under agreements with the hardware manufacturer Bitmain. These coins are tied to purchase commitments and represent a significant liability on the company balance sheet.
Financial reports show a complex picture of profitability. While the company claims a cost of $36,500 per mined BTC, this figure excludes depreciation and other expenses. Additionally, a $57 million GAAP net loss highlights the high costs associated with operations, despite the reported gains in mining output.
Looking ahead, traders should monitor how the company balances its share dilution strategy against future mining production. With equity issuance remaining a primary tool for cash flow, the sustainability of this model depends on both market conditions and the final resolution of the restricted Bitcoin held under Bitmain contracts.
