XRP Traders Face Confusion as $1 Battle Heats Up
Conflicting data on long and short positions has traders guessing the next move for XRP as it clings to the $1 mark.

LIVEXRP is currently locked in a fierce battle to hold the $1 price level. As traders track the market, they are running into confusing data regarding open interest and position ratios. While some platforms report open interest as high as $2.7 billion, others show figures closer to $1 billion. These discrepancies often come down to which exchanges and contract types different sites include in their totals.
Adding to the confusion is the difference between account numbers and dollar exposure. Roughly 75% of accounts are currently long, but this does not mean the market is lopsided. In any futures contract, every long is balanced by a short. A few large traders holding massive short positions can easily outweigh a large number of smaller long positions, meaning the actual dollar exposure remains balanced despite what the account ratios suggest.
Recent taker volume, which measures aggressive trading in the last 24 hours, shows about 55% selling pressure. This aligns with the struggle to keep XRP above $1. If the price drops further, leveraged longs may face liquidations, which could create more downward pressure. Conversely, a price spike could force shorts to buy back their positions.
Despite the volatility, some institutional interest remains. Recent filings show major firms like Morgan Stanley maintaining exposure through various crypto related funds and products. Traders should watch for how the market handles the $1 support level, as the high level of leverage on both sides makes the current setup particularly sensitive to sudden price swings.
