World Chain Boosts Speed with New EIP 7928 Update

World Chain is set to become the first layer 2 network to implement streamed EIP 7928 block access lists on its mainnet starting August 17. This update allows validators to verify transactions in parallel as blocks are still being assembled, rather than waiting for the entire block to be finished. By streaming this data through flashblocks every 200 milliseconds, the network aims to significantly increase throughput.

This move addresses a common bottleneck where validators must verify transactions one by one. By using access lists to track how transactions interact with the blockchain state, the network can process independent transactions across multiple CPU cores simultaneously. World Chain states this allows them to reach throughput levels of up to one gigagas per second.

Crucially, this upgrade does not require a hard fork. Operators can simply use a runtime flag to update their software, making the transition smoother than standard network wide upgrades. The team expects this to maintain stable validation latency while scaling capacity.

By keeping hardware requirements low, the developers aim to preserve the decentralized nature of the network. This technology is a key part of their strategy to support high volume applications like stablecoin payments and global remittances within the Ethereum ecosystem.
