LIVEThe crypto market saw two more security incidents over the weekend as both WEMIX and Garden Finance reported unauthorized activity. WEMIX disclosed that a contract related to WEMIX$ was compromised, leading to the illicit issuance of over five million tokens. The assets were quickly converted into other cryptocurrencies and moved across various network bridges, prompting the team to suspend bridge operations temporarily while they coordinate with exchanges to freeze the stolen funds.
Simultaneously, Garden Finance took its application offline after detecting unusual activity on its platform. Security researchers identified the exploit, which resulted in approximately 450,000 dollars worth of USDT being drained across several blockchain networks including Ethereum and Base. The platform is currently investigating the breach to secure its systems.
These events fit a larger trend seen throughout 2026. While the number of reported hacks has reached record levels, the total dollar value stolen per incident is trending downward compared to previous years. Security analysts note that while attackers are striking more often, they are finding it harder to walk away with massive, platform draining sums.
Traders should stay cautious and monitor their assets when interacting with cross chain bridges or decentralized finance apps. Keeping an eye on official company announcements remains the best way to stay informed as these investigations progress.
