USDC Redemptions Hit $4B While ARC Token Boosts Circle Outlook

Circle just released its second quarter earnings report, showing that gross USDC redemptions outpaced mints by roughly $4 billion. Customers redeemed $87 billion in stablecoins while minting $83 billion. Total USDC circulation ended the quarter at $73.3 billion, which is still 19 percent higher than the same time last year.

Despite the redemption gap, reserve income grew by 5 percent to reach $667.7 million. Circle absorbed a 66 basis point drop in its reserve return rate by relying on a larger average stablecoin balance base. At the same time, subscription and services revenue climbed 41 percent year over year to hit nearly $34 million.

The biggest surprise came from Circle updating its full year other revenue outlook. The company doubled the midpoint of that guidance, jumping to a range of $310 million to $330 million. This sharp increase includes recognized revenue from the recent ARC Token presale, following initial gross proceeds totaling about $242.25 million across two token closings.

Traders and market watchers should keep an eye on Circle as it prepares for the public mainnet launch of its Arc blockchain network scheduled for September 16. As the stablecoin market adapts to shifting yields and distribution costs, the success of the Arc network will play a major role in shaping Circle financial growth.
