United Airlines is expanding its premium heavy Boeing 787 fleet with four new long haul routes out of Houston. This move brings the total number of premium configured routes to eight. The modified jets feature 222 seats, including 64 business class and 35 premium economy seats. The airline is betting that luxury cabins will drive stronger financial returns and catch the attention of market watchers tracking stock performance.

Starting in October 2026, the updated aircraft will fly from Houston to Sao Paulo, Sydney, and Tokyo Narita. A route to London Heathrow will follow on January 5, 2027. San Francisco serves as the primary hub for this program, with flights already running to Singapore and London, plus upcoming additions to Zurich and Seoul. United plans to have around 30 of these upgraded Boeing 787s operational by the end of the year.

Company executives note that these premium configurations provide higher profit margins compared to standard economy seating. As the airline expands its high end footprint into a second major hub in Texas, investors will watch passenger demand closely. The success of these long haul routes could shape the financial trajectory of the carrier over the coming quarters.
