LIVEFundstrat leader Tom Lee shared a very bullish market outlook during a recent appearance on CNBC, stating he expects the S&P 500 to climb toward 8,000 this month. He explained that a recent market deleveraging event pushed cash to the sidelines and left investor sentiment too negative, creating room for a strong rebound. Strong corporate earnings, cooling inflation fears, and ongoing spending on artificial intelligence are helping drive prices higher.
In a surprising twist, Lee named Ethereum as one of the key assets that will lead the next leg of the market higher. He grouped the leading altcoin alongside the Magnificent Seven tech giants and major software stocks. While he noted that memory and semiconductor stocks are currently going through a correction, he expects those sectors to bounce back strongly and pull the broader market up with them.
Not everyone on the panel shares such an aggressive view, as fellow guest Dan Greenhouse pointed out that the S&P 500 is already trading near 7,700. Greenhouse argued that recent market strength comes from a broad mix of sectors, including financials and insurance companies, rather than just technology. He also highlighted strong employment data as a steady foundation for the economy.
Traders will now watch to see if Ethereum can truly keep pace with mega cap tech stocks through the rest of the month. Market participants should keep a close eye on incoming exchange traded fund inflows and on chain activity to gauge whether this bullish momentum has staying power.
