LIVEStrategy has sold 6,948 bitcoin so far in 2026 as part of a formal monetization program. The company raised approximately $431.8 million through these sales. These funds are intended to support the firm through preferred stock dividends and other corporate obligations. The company began this move in late June with the goal of raising $1.25 billion for its cash reserves.
The sales occurred in several batches between late May and early August. Filings show the firm sold 32 BTC in May, followed by larger sales throughout the summer. These transactions netted the company over $431 million in total. During this period, the price of bitcoin fell by 13 percent, drawing attention from market participants who previously expected the firm to hold its assets indefinitely.
Despite the recent selling, Strategy remains one of the largest corporate holders of the asset. As of August 9, the firm holds 840,447 BTC, which is valued at roughly $53.82 billion. The company maintains its position despite sitting on a total investment deficit of about $9.5 billion when comparing the current value to their total purchase costs over the years.
The pivot has caught many investors by surprise, as Michael Saylor previously emphasized holding bitcoin regardless of market conditions. Traders should watch for further filings to see if the firm continues its sales strategy or returns to its accumulation phase as the market adjusts to these supply shifts.
