Strategy reported a significant loss of $8.23 billion for the second quarter of 2026. The company points to the recent decline in Bitcoin prices as the primary reason for these unrealized losses. Despite the red ink on the balance sheet, the company actually increased its Bitcoin holdings by 846 units during the period and boosted its Bitcoin per share metric by 5 percent.

Looking ahead, Strategy aims to stabilize its share price around the $100 mark. Executive chairman Michael Saylor stated that the company plans to use a disciplined approach to share repurchases if prices fall below that target. The firm is also focusing on growing its Digital Credit business to create long term value for shareholders while navigating current market skepticism.

Meanwhile, Coinbase faced its own set of challenges with a 19 percent revenue decline compared to the previous year. Trading volumes took a hit, falling 24 percent to roughly $145 billion. The exchange saw a drop in consumer transactional revenue, which management directly linked to lower overall crypto spot trading activity.

Despite the dip in trading, there are bright spots for Coinbase. Its prediction market sector grew by over 100 percent quarter over quarter. Additionally, the amount of USDC held across Coinbase products reached a record high of $20 billion. Investors will be watching to see if these service sectors can help offset lower trading fees in the coming months.
