LIVEStarting August 24, Pi Network will stop offering flat, subsidized fees for creating and editing applications. Previously, developers paid a fixed fee of 0.25 PI for these actions, with the network covering the difference in actual AI service costs. The new system adjusts these prices to match the true cost of resources, which aims to discourage spam and low quality projects from draining network funds.
There is a silver lining for developers building helpful tools. Apps that show genuine utility and attract a consistent user base will still qualify for the old subsidized rates. The team plans to review app performance regularly, meaning developers can work their way into the lower cost tier if their applications gain traction over time.
In terms of market performance, PI continues to struggle with resistance. The token recently attempted to break past the $0.09 mark but faced rejection from bears. After climbing toward $0.10 earlier this month, the price dipped to $0.084 before attempting to recover. It is currently trading roughly 4 to 5 percent below that $0.09 hurdle.
Investors and developers should keep an eye on how these pricing changes impact the quality of new apps joining the ecosystem. For now, the market remains quiet as the token holds its position as the 69th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
