LIVEMicroStrategy has added custom branded Nike Air Jordans to its official online shop for $250. The mid top sneakers are built on the classic AJ1 silhouette with custom logos and leather overlays. They are sold as an unofficial custom design rather than a direct Nike partnership, joining a lineup of 53 items in the company store ranging from ten dollar laces to custom Dunks.
The biggest surprise for crypto fans is at the checkout counter. MicroStrategy holds billions in Bitcoin, yet the store only accepts traditional cards and payment options like Apple Pay. Customers cannot spend a single satoshi on the merchandise. Even so, the store acts as a cultural megaphone for the firm, whose stock has gained 45 percent over the past month.
While Michael Saylor turns his Bitcoin treasury pitch into lifestyle gear, Nike is dealing with much tougher times. Nike shares have dropped nearly 49 percent over the past year, hurt by slowing sales in China and margin hits from trade tariffs. A small run of custom kicks will not fix Nike balance sheet, but it shows how strongly crypto culture is crossing over into mainstream fashion.
