A major cybersecurity breach at Brown Health Medical Group in Massachusetts has compromised the private data of over 311,000 people. Federal health officials report that an unauthorized party broke into company systems and made off with sensitive files. The stolen information includes names, dates of birth, medical details, Social Security numbers, driver licenses, and financial account numbers.

Company representatives discovered the breach after noticing suspicious activity on a historic file server in December 2025. Investigators found that the unauthorized access happened over a two day window. While electronic health records remained safe, investigators took months to figure out the full scope of the exposed data. Affected individuals are now receiving formal notification letters in the mail.

To help those impacted, the healthcare provider is offering two years of free identity restoration and fraud monitoring services through Experian. This incident highlights ongoing digital security risks that affect organizations storing sensitive personal records, reminding everyone to monitor their financial accounts closely for suspicious activity.
