Lido, the largest liquid staking protocol on Ethereum, has started moving more than 8 million ETH to a brand new staking setup. This massive migration involves nearly 16.5 billion dollars in crypto assets. It marks the protocol's most significant technical overhaul since it first launched.

The upgrade is called Curated Module v2, or CMv2. Its main goal is to optimize how Lido handles its validators. Interestingly, this new setup could cut Ethereum's total validator count by almost a third. Even with fewer validators running, the actual amount of ETH securing the blockchain will stay exactly the same.

This change is a big deal for the broader Ethereum network. A smaller validator count can help reduce the load on the network, making things run more efficiently without sacrificing decentralization or safety. Traders and stakers will want to watch how this migration wraps up and if it improves Ethereum's overall performance.
