Sean A. Fitzpatrick has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after a jury convicted him of residential burglary and related theft charges. The case stems from a March 2023 break in at a home in McHenry County, where Fitzpatrick and an accomplice stole a significant amount of property. The stolen goods were valued between $100,000 and $500,000.

Items taken during the two day spree included a Ford F 250 pickup truck, a Lexus sedan, a John Deere Gator, jewelry, cash, and appliances. The burglars also made off with a Rock River Arms rifle and a Cook County sheriff deputy badge. Investigators eventually tracked the stolen items to a suspect home, allowing police to recover much of the property for the victims.

Fitzpatrick's co defendant, Scott T. Henrie, previously took a plea deal and received a four year sentence. This sentencing concludes a legal process that followed a conviction in July 2025. While this crime involves traditional property theft rather than digital assets, it serves as a reminder of the importance of robust home and personal security for all individuals.
