A new meme coin project called LAPTOP is scheduled to launch this Wednesday on Base, the blockchain developed by Coinbase. The project is tied to Hunter Biden, who is listed among the founders. The total supply is set at 1 billion tokens, with 30 percent held by the founders on a vesting schedule that spans two years. An additional 40 percent of the supply is allocated for airdrops to supporters and to cover project costs like liquidity and legal fees.

The project aims to distribute a portion of tokens to individuals who lost money on previous political meme coins, specifically targeting holders of the TRUMP token. However, the distribution also covers subscribers to Biden's personal media channels. The team has proposed a mechanism to burn up to 30 percent of the supply, but this relies on several difficult conditions, including a high future valuation for the token and specific political outcomes in 2028.

This launch arrives as political figures become increasingly involved in the crypto space. It also follows the significant decline of the TRUMP token, which is currently down 97 percent from its peak in early 2025. Other tokens endorsed by the Trump family have also seen sharp price drops in recent months.

Investors should exercise extreme caution as no official contract address has been released. The crypto market has seen a rise in scams where fake tokens appear ahead of legitimate project launches. Until an official address is confirmed by the team, any token claiming to be LAPTOP should be considered a potential fraud.
