LIVEGrayscale updated its Ethereum Staking Mini ETF trust agreement to make staking the default for almost all coins held by the fund. The change arrives just before an Internal Revenue Service deadline. New rules let crypto funds stake without triggering fund taxes, provided the rewards go directly to shareholders.
The fund currently stakes about eighty percent of its total holdings, leaving roughly 161,000 Ethereum sitting idle as a buffer for fees and redemptions. The new agreement aims to shrink that idle pile toward zero. Shareholders can also expect regular cash payouts instead of just token rewards, with monthly payments planned.
This move helps the fund stay competitive as other major financial institutions launch low cost alternatives and attract investors with staking yields. Ethereum currently trades near $1,915, showing a slight gain over the past twenty four hours.
Traders should watch upcoming fund reports to see how quickly that idle Ethereum moves into staking protocols. If the staked share climbs higher, monthly cash payouts for shareholders will increase accordingly.
