Former FBI Agent Indicted for Stealing $1M in Crypto

Patrick Steven Yaroch, a former special agent who served at the FBI between early 2025 and mid 2026, has been formally indicted. Court documents allege that Yaroch stole approximately one million dollars in cryptocurrency from the government agency. He now faces charges including the receipt and interstate transportation of stolen goods.

The case came to light after Yaroch reached out to his superiors, stating that his actions were causing him significant distress. During an interview with federal investigators, he disclosed the location of his digital assets. While he initially handed over wallet recovery phrases, he later attempted to withdraw his consent.

Digital forensic teams eventually accessed Yaroch's personal accounts, finding nearly 190,000 dollars in funds on Kraken. A broader review revealed that he had transferred roughly one million dollars into the Suilend protocol. Investigators noted he selected the service specifically because he liked the water droplet logo.

Evidence found on his mobile device showed he had consulted ChatGPT for advice on how to invest the stolen funds and plan an escape to Portugal. While he claimed he was not planning to move the stolen money into the country, records show he had already booked travel arrangements. The FBI continues to process the case as it recovers the misappropriated assets.
