LIVEFélix has secured $200 million in fresh financing to grow its platform beyond simple remittances. The round includes $87 million in equity led by Andreessen Horowitz along with a $113 million credit facility from General Catalyst. The company uses USDC for its back end settlement, though customers never have to interact with crypto directly.
Since its start in 2020, Félix has processed over $8 billion in transactions for six million users. By using stablecoin rails, the firm avoids the slow and costly nature of traditional cross border payments. Revenue has grown significantly over the past year, proving that users want faster and cheaper ways to move money across Latin American markets.
The new funding will support the development of a product called a Cognitive Financial Companion. This AI powered tool is designed to work within WhatsApp to help users choose the right financial services, including lending and savings. The company aims to move away from traditional banking structures by focusing on the specific needs of each user.
This move comes as major incumbents are also experimenting with blockchain technology for settlement. With established partners like Visa and Mastercard already in the mix, the industry is watching to see how quickly Félix can transition from a niche remittance app into a broader financial hub for its users.
