Ethereum Leads RWA Market As Solana Gains Ground

Ethereum is still the dominant player in the tokenized real world asset market, according to a recent joint report by CoinShares and Token Terminal. Solana is also emerging as a major competitor by building notable spot trading activity. Other popular networks like Arbitrum, BNB Chain, and Base have not yet seen meaningful RWA spot trading despite being active for a long time.

The report points out that liquidity and trading infrastructure tend to concentrate on established networks where market makers and asset issuers already operate. At the same time, crypto trading volumes dropped significantly over the past year, while RWA spot trading volumes grew by about 220 percent. This shows that tokenized asset adoption is growing on its own, separate from broader crypto market trends.

RWA lending is also taking off in a big way. Total deposits in this sector more than tripled from 2.3 billion dollars to 7.4 billion dollars over the past year, even as general DeFi deposits declined. Ethereum captured nearly 70 percent of all real world asset deposits for lending platforms, keeping its crown as the top ecosystem for on chain collateral.

Traders should watch how Solana continues to grow its native lending platforms like Kamino and whether other chains can finally catch up in the RWA space. Ethereum is holding its ground for now, but competition is heating up fast.
