Empery Digital is moving away from a long term holding strategy after selling 1,635 BTC between July 1 and August 6. This move generated $102.2 million but left the company with only 1,279 BTC in its total treasury. Once restricted collateral is removed from that balance, the firm holds just 325 BTC in unrestricted reserves, a sharp drop from the 1,375 BTC reported at the end of June.

The selling trend is part of a larger pattern where the company uses its Bitcoin reserves to fund share buybacks and pay off debt. Earlier this year, Empery sold 1,167 BTC to help cover a $50 million repayment on its repo facility and other financial obligations. These actions show that corporate treasury holders are increasingly treating Bitcoin as a liquid asset rather than a permanent store of value.

Looking ahead, the company faces potential pressure from a pending data center property acquisition that could claim another $62.1 million in cash. With a working capital deficit reported as of June 30, management indicated that future Bitcoin sales remain a possible tool to keep operations running. Traders should keep an eye on how these remaining reserves fluctuate as the company navigates its debt commitments.
