LIVEThe ElizaOS token crashed to an all time low after founder Shaw Walters announced that the project is completely dead and the foundation is winding down. Walters stated that no token supply, buybacks, or foundation support remain to defend the price, leaving holders with significant losses. The dramatic collapse follows a federal class action lawsuit filed by law firm Burwick in the Southern District of New York.
The lawsuit alleged that the project engaged in deceptive practices, false advertising, and negligent misrepresentation. It also targeted the controversial token migration from ai16z to ElizaOS, which expanded the supply from 1.1 billion to 11 billion tokens. Walters explained that the team chose to settle the case and hand over the remaining treasury and cash because the project lacked the funds to fight the legal battle in court.
Following the announcement, the ELIZAOS token fell to a record low near $0.000284 before recovering slightly to trade around $0.00029, marking an 18 percent daily loss and a market capitalization of roughly $2.15 million. Walters noted that he never sold his holdings for personal profit and will retain the intellectual property to start over, vowing never to attach a token to Eliza again while shifting his focus purely to artificial intelligence.
