LIVECleanSpark is feeling the pressure after reporting a significant drop in its fiscal third quarter. The company saw its revenue fall to $138 million compared to $198.6 million during the same period last year. Most notably, a profit of $257.4 million from a year ago turned into a $239.8 million loss this time around.
The massive swing in performance was largely driven by Bitcoin valuation shifts. CleanSpark reported that a previous $268.7 million gain on Bitcoin fair value turned into a $116.3 million loss. These accounting changes accounted for roughly $432.8 million of the company's net income reversal, highlighting just how much the price of Bitcoin impacts their bottom line.
Investors are keeping a close watch on the company's transition into the AI sector. CleanSpark recently signed a large 175 megawatt lease for AI operations, but significant revenue from this project is not expected until late 2027. In the meantime, the company must manage its existing mining operations and ongoing debt obligations.
While CleanSpark maintains a significant reserve of Bitcoin and cash, the need for additional capital remains clear. Management has indicated that while the equity portion of its AI project is funded, the company will likely need to secure further financing to cover construction costs. The market will be watching closely to see how the firm balances its core mining business with these expensive future growth plans.
