China Robot IPO Oversubscribed 8288 Times in AI Surge
Unitree Robotics just pulled off a massive stock market debut in China, highlighting a massive boom in physical artificial intelligence.
China just saw one of the wildest stock market debuts in recent memory. Unitree Robotics priced its Shanghai listing at 150.8 yuan per share, and retail traders scrambled to get in. The offering ended up oversubscribed by an incredible 8,288 times. Only a tiny fraction of applicants actually received shares, leaving the winning rate at just 0.018 percent.
This frenzy centers around what experts call embodied AI. Instead of software sitting inside a computer screen or a data center, these systems combine artificial intelligence with physical bodies like humanoid robots that can walk, sense their surroundings, and do manual labor. Beijing has made this technology a top national priority, and private money is pouring in rapidly.
Even though Unitree is riding this wave, it is not actually the biggest player in the industry. Rival firm AgiBot currently holds the top spot for global shipments, while Unitree sits in second place. However, Unitree stands out by posting actual profits and strong revenue, while many competitors still rely entirely on venture capital funding.
Traders and global watchers are keeping a close eye on this space as more robotics firms line up for public listings. Washington is already reacting with import restrictions to protect local industries. The main question moving forward is whether these companies can turn shipping numbers into truly useful, working robots deployed across factories worldwide.
