LIVEBitMine Immersion Technologies reported a dip in its share repurchase activity for the week ending August 16. The company bought back 1.7 million common shares, marking the third straight week of decline and the smallest amount since the program began in early July. Despite the slowdown in buybacks, the firm continues to aggressively stack Ethereum, with its treasury balance now reaching 5.82 million tokens.
The firm currently holds 4.8 percent of the total Ethereum supply, inching closer to its stated goal of 5 percent. Chairman Tom Lee remains optimistic about the treasury strategy, noting that the rising ETH to BTC ratio supports the company focus on tokenization and artificial intelligence projects. BitMine has successfully repurchased 20.8 million shares since July under its multi billion dollar authorization plan.
While the ETH treasury grows, the company cash position has seen a significant downward trend. Cash and marketable securities dropped to $78 million from a high of $527 million back in late June. Beyond its primary crypto holdings, the firm retains a mix of Bitcoin and stakes in external companies like Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings.
Investors should keep an eye on how the board balances future share repurchases against the cost of maintaining such a large digital asset treasury. As cash reserves continue to shift, the market will be watching to see if BitMine maintains its current pace of asset acquisition or adjusts its strategy to preserve liquidity.
