LIVEA recent security breach involving Coldcard hardware wallets resulted in over $100 million in losses, prompting swift action from the Bitcoin community. In response to the crisis, a group known as the Bitcoin Red Team launched a massive artificial intelligence audit across open source software repositories to catch vulnerabilities early.
Led by software engineer Calle and Anchorwatch CEO Rob Hamilton, the team has already spent over $40,000 on AI tokens funded by OpenSats. Utilizing advanced models from various providers, the auditors scanned nearly 390 projects in a very short timeframe. The audit uncovered 85 critical issues and hundreds of high severity problems, leading some crypto businesses to pause operations and address the findings.
The team built a custom testing harness to evaluate high load bearing code and deliver reports directly to project engineers. While the automated tools do heavy lifting, the creators stress that human experience remains essential for context. Traders and users should watch for further security updates and ensure their funds are secured on safe firmware versions.
