The Bitcoin Knots project recently told followers that the Bitcoin network faced an attack and that block production had slowed significantly. Public chain data tells a different story. The main Bitcoin network is continuing to produce blocks on schedule, with the time between blocks remaining under 10 minutes. The only part of the system currently stalled is the Knots fork itself, which stopped producing blocks shortly after a failed soft fork attempt.

This claim drew sharp criticism from across the industry. David Schwartz, the former chief technology officer at Ripple, took to social media to call the warning nonsense. He questioned the intent behind the message, suggesting it serves only to mislead users who may not have the technical background to verify the network status themselves.

Support for the Knots project has dwindled significantly since miners never backed the proposed changes. The project previously faced controversy when the OCEAN mining pool, co founded by Knots maintainer Luke Dashjr, moved miners onto the minority chain without clear consent. This move resulted in a massive drop in their hashrate.

While the Knots group plans to attempt another chain split by September, industry figures have largely dismissed these efforts as unserious. For now, the broader Bitcoin market appears to be ignoring the dispute entirely as the main chain continues to operate without interruption.
