World Opens ProveKit Toolkit to All Developers

World announced on Wednesday that its zero knowledge proving toolkit, known as ProveKit, is now open to external developers. The tool already runs inside World ID identity checks. It allows a standard mobile phone to confirm personal facts, like age or nationality, without transmitting the actual ID documents that prove them.

Traditional online verification usually requires users to upload photos of passports or driver licenses to third party servers. This practice creates massive honeyports for hackers. Recent reports highlight major data breaches involving millions of identity documents stolen from verification vendors. ProveKit fixes this security flaw by running proofs locally on the user device instead of remote servers.

The toolkit generates proofs directly on a phone or browser within seconds. The verifier receives a simple confirmation of the specific claim without seeing any underlying personal data. Security audits back the code, and the project is already planning a second version to improve speed and reduce memory use.

Developers can access the open source repository immediately to build privacy focused applications. As privacy regulations tighten and data leaks grow more common, tools that keep personal information off central servers could become essential for web applications.
