Wirex Blocks Over £650k in Fraud During First Half of 2026
Wirex released its latest transparency report, showing major progress in stopping financial crime through advanced monitoring and AI tools.
Payments provider Wirex released its transparency report for the first half of 2026, revealing the company successfully blocked more than £650,000 in fraudulent activity. This total includes nearly £450,000 saved from scams and £225,000 in suspected criminal funds prevented across seven million transactions.
The report highlights a shift toward using artificial intelligence to flag suspicious patterns. One major win included breaking up a cross border money mule network earlier this year. These efforts have also led to a drop in customer complaints, with the firm seeing 42 percent fewer issues compared to the second half of 2025.
CEO Chetan Shah pointed out that many scams start on social media before reaching the platform. To stay ahead of bad actors, Wirex is rolling out new internal tools called Sentinel and Tradecraft. These systems aim to improve how the company handles anti money laundering cases and trains staff to spot AI generated criminal tactics.
As fraud becomes a larger concern across the UK, this data shows how fintech companies are attempting to build trust through public accountability. Investors and users should watch for how these new internal tools perform during the second half of the year as the company continues to refine its security measures.
