Unitree CEO Predicts Massive Robotics Breakthrough by 2028
Humanoid robots could soon perform everyday tasks based on voice commands according to new projections from industry leaders.
Wang Xingxing, the founder of robotics company Unitree, believes humanoid technology is approaching a major turning point. During the World Robot Conference in Beijing, he estimated that robots could reach a level of capability where they handle 80 percent of common household tasks within two to ten years. This shift would mirror the rapid impact that language models had on the software industry.
Industry experts like Wang He of the startup Galbot suggest this milestone could arrive as soon as 2028. The sector is seeing significant growth already, with global humanoid robot shipments rising 272 percent in the first half of 2026. Chinese manufacturers currently dominate this supply chain, accounting for nearly all of these shipments.
Investors in the technology and crypto sectors are tracking these developments closely. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino recently identified Unitree as a key company to monitor in the robotics space. While Unitree saw a major surge during its initial public offering on the Shanghai stock exchange, the share price cooled off shortly after as traders adjusted their expectations.
Whether this technology becomes a staple of the home market will depend on how quickly artificial intelligence can process complex physical environments. For now, the rapid increase in hardware shipments suggests that the infrastructure for these machines is expanding faster than many analysts originally predicted.
