LIVEPopular hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor just shared some bad news for its users. The company announced that a recent data breach is much larger than first reported, exposing the personal details of an extra 67000 US customers. The leak includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping addresses, and order numbers from purchases made between November 2019 and August 2021.
Trezor blamed the incident on its third party fulfillment partner, ShipMonk. According to Trezor, ShipMonk suffered unauthorized access to its systems and failed to delete customer data despite giving repeated written confirmation that the information was gone. Trezor stated it has already emailed all affected individuals directly.
This incident highlights ongoing security risks involving third party vendors in the crypto hardware space. Similar leaks have happened to other major wallet brands in the past. Users should remain extra cautious against phishing attempts, spam emails, and text messages asking for sensitive personal information.
