Crypto hardware wallet maker Trezor has reported a growing data breach that now impacts roughly 80,000 users in total. The company shared an update stating that 67,000 additional customers in the United States who placed orders between November 2019 and August 2021 had their personal information compromised. This expansion stems from a security failure at shipping provider ShipMonk.

The leaked data includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping addresses, and order numbers. This exposure puts affected users at risk of targeted phishing scams, fraudulent calls, and text messages. Trezor expressed frustration with ShipMonk because the partner failed to follow data retention rules requiring customer shipping details to be deleted after ninety days.

In response to the incident, Trezor is planning to introduce anonymous product shipping to help protect customer privacy on future orders. Hardware wallet security remains under intense scrutiny following several high profile vendor incidents this year. Users should remain extremely cautious about suspicious messages and emails asking for sensitive information.
