LIVETeucrium has delayed its plan for an XRP short exchange traded fund once again. A fresh filing shows the earliest potential launch date is now October 11, 2026. This is the 19th time the firm has postponed the arrival of the fund, which is designed to pay out when the price of XRP drops.
The firm has provided no specific reason for these repeated delays. Interestingly, a counterpart fund that bets on the rise of XRP launched in April 2025 and is currently trading. While the long version of the ETF has been active, the short version remains stuck in a cycle of administrative extensions.
This delay leaves investors without a regulated way to bet against XRP, even as the asset has experienced significant price swings over the past year. Since the long fund launched, XRP has seen both highs near $3.65 and a notable decline. Despite this volatility, inflows into standard XRP funds have reached $1.7 billion, showing that most investors are sticking with a bullish outlook.
Market watchers are now left to wonder if the short fund will ever actually reach the trading floor. With the new date set for late 2026, the industry remains skeptical about whether Teucrium intends to bring this product to life or keep it on the shelf indefinitely.
