Stablecoin supplies are shrinking fast while transaction volumes hit record highs across the market.

LIVEThe broader stablecoin market just experienced its sharpest monthly drop since 2022. Total market value fell by roughly $14 billion from its peak in May. Tether alone accounted for a major share of this contraction, shedding about $5.5 billion in USDT supply during the period.
Even though total supply dropped, the actual usage of these digital tokens surged. Transaction and settlement volumes jumped by 63 percent in June, reaching record pace. This means people are using stablecoins more actively for payments and transfers instead of just holding them as idle digital cash.
Traders and analysts should watch whether this trend of lower supply and higher turnover continues. If transaction speeds keep rising while supply contracts, the stablecoin sector might shift permanently from a simple savings tool into a high speed global payment network.
