LIVETelegram founder Pavel Durov shared plans to build a non custodial Gram wallet directly into the messaging app this summer. Durov announced the update on his official Telegram channel, promising free transactions for users. He called it the largest rollout of a non custodial crypto wallet in history, pointing to a potential reach of over one billion people.
Following the announcement, the Gram token climbed more than 8 percent from about $1.44 to $1.55 before settling near $1.52. This move follows a rebranding effort last month where Toncoin shifted to Gram after Telegram took over network development. Telegram already operates a self custody wallet feature that surpassed 150 million users earlier this year.
This new push revives an old goal from 2018 when Telegram first tried launching the TON project and Gram tokens. That early effort stopped after a lawsuit from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission regarding token sales. Traders should watch for further details on the summer rollout and how the market responds to such a massive crypto integration.
