LIVEStrategy has shifted its focus away from buying Bitcoin for the time being. The company recently sold 2.73 million common shares to raise money, but instead of buying more crypto, it added $225 million to its cash reserve. This brings the total reserve to $3.225 billion. The company has not purchased any Bitcoin for four consecutive weeks, leaving its total holdings steady at 843,775 BTC.
The main goal here is to support the company’s preferred stock program, which requires significant annual dividend and interest payments. By holding over $3 billion in cash, the company can cover nearly two years of these obligations. This move aims to stabilize its preferred securities, which have been trading below their target value. If these securities recover, it could make it cheaper for the company to raise money again in the future.
Because the company issued millions of new shares without adding to its Bitcoin pile, its internal performance metrics have turned negative for the current quarter. While these numbers look weak right now, analysts note that the company is simply prioritizing financial security. Investors are now watching to see if this pause is just a temporary bridge to restore funding channels or a longer term change in how the company manages its assets.
