SparkKitty Malware Targets Your Crypto Seed Phrases

A malicious software known as SparkKitty is currently making rounds across mobile devices. It spreads through third party app stores on both iOS and Android platforms. Once installed on your phone, the app gains access to your media library to hunt for photos of your crypto wallet seed phrases.

Security researchers found that the malware specifically searches for images containing backup codes or recovery phrases. Many users store these sensitive details as screenshots to avoid losing access to their assets, but this habit now makes them a primary target for hackers. If the malware finds a match, it exfiltrates the information to a remote server.

The best way to protect your funds is to remove any photos of seed phrases from your phone immediately. Experts recommend writing your recovery keys on physical paper and keeping them in a secure, offline location. Always stick to official app stores and be cautious about granting permissions to new or unknown applications on your device.
