LIVEShiba Inu celebrated its sixth birthday this week, marking the milestone just as community burn rates saw a massive surge. Data from the tracking account Shibburn shows that the project removed over 3.2 billion tokens from circulation during July. This marks an impressive 1,395 percent increase compared to the tokens burned in June.
Despite the big percentage jump, the actual dollar value of the burned tokens sits at less than 17,000 dollars. Most of the activity happened during a few busy days at the end of the month, including a single burn of nearly 1.3 billion tokens on July 27. The broader goal is to reduce the giant circulating supply to build scarcity and boost long term price action.
Traders should watch the circulating supply closely, which still sits above 585 trillion coins. While the token price jumped about 10 percent over the last month, the community hopes for faster burns and stronger ecosystem updates to spark a bigger market rally in the months ahead.
