Robinhood Hits Record Revenue as Prediction Markets Boom
Robinhood reported a massive quarter with record revenue, driven by a surge in event contracts even as crypto activity cooled.
coinbeat.newsRobinhood reported record net revenue of 1.31 billion dollars for the second quarter, representing a 32 percent increase compared to last year. The surge was largely fueled by a boom in transaction based revenue, which climbed to 776 million dollars. A major highlight was the event contracts segment, which saw a tenfold increase in volume to reach 13.6 billion contracts traded.
While prediction markets and equities showed significant strength, cryptocurrency revenue moved in the opposite direction. Income from digital assets dropped 38 percent year over year to 100 million dollars. Despite this decline, the company continues to bet on the future of blockchain through its international expansion and the recent launch of Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 network.
Looking ahead, the brokerage is keeping its foot on the gas regarding new financial products. CEO Vlad Tenev noted that the company remains focused on increasing product velocity to attract more owners to its platform. With its recent acquisition of WonderFi and the debut of AI powered trading tools, Robinhood is clearly trying to diversify its offerings beyond traditional stock and crypto trading.
