LIVEPrivacy coins are showing unexpected strength in a difficult market. Since Bitcoin hit its peak in October, the broader crypto market has faced heavy selling pressure. Data shows that the median coin in the top 200 is currently 58 percent cheaper than it was during that market high, while even Bitcoin remains down 36 percent. In contrast, the privacy sector has climbed 213 percent, making it the only group of assets trading above their October valuations.
This growth is not spread evenly across the sector. Most of the gains are driven by Zcash, which has seen a massive price increase of 687 percent since the October Bitcoin peak. Monero has also performed well, effectively doubling in value. Together, these two coins account for roughly 90 percent of the total market value within the privacy sector.
The sector face some challenges ahead. Other privacy assets have struggled to keep pace, with some showing only minor gains or even flipping to losses over the past year. Because the sector relies so heavily on the performance of Zcash, any significant pullback in its price could erase the gains seen on market charts for the entire group.
Investors are watching these trends closely as they wait for a broader altcoin season that has yet to arrive. With privacy coins currently acting as the only green spot in an otherwise red market, all eyes are on whether Zcash can sustain its momentum or if the sector will eventually align with the rest of the market.
