Polymarket has officially moved into the perpetual futures market. The platform launched 67 trading pairs on Thursday, allowing users to take positions on cryptocurrencies, major stocks like Tesla and Nvidia, and commodities such as gold and crude oil. Traders can access up to 20x leverage on these contracts, which do not have an expiration date.

The service is strictly for international users. Polymarket is blocking American traders from accessing these specific products to stay compliant with offshore regulations. Users in the United States are instead directed to the firm’s regulated local platform, which does not currently support these high leverage futures.

This expansion puts Polymarket in direct competition with other prediction markets and traditional exchanges. While regulators in the United States remain cautious about allowing perpetual contracts for commodities like oil, Polymarket is pushing ahead globally. Meanwhile, rivals like Kalshi are working with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to seek approval for similar products on American soil.

Market observers are now watching to see how the CFTC handles these new asset classes. As the competition for 24 hour trading grows, the way these platforms manage risk and regulatory filings will be the next major trend to track in the prediction market space.
