Oobit Brings Crypto Payments to Vietnam via VietQR

Crypto payment platform Oobit is making it easier for visitors in Vietnam to spend their digital assets. Through a new partnership with AEON, Oobit users can now pay at local businesses by scanning VietQR codes. This system automatically converts crypto into the local currency, meaning merchants do not need to change how they accept payments.

The service is designed to fit into the existing habits of local shoppers and travelers. Oobit reports that Vietnam is seeing a steady rise in crypto spending, with active travelers spending an average of 117 dollars per day. Taxis and ride services currently make up nearly half of all these transactions.

This move is part of a larger plan to connect crypto wallets with established regional payment rails across Asia. By piggybacking on familiar infrastructure, Oobit hopes to increase real world utility for digital assets. The company is backed by Tether and is looking to expand this model to other countries soon.
