Ohio Nursing Aide Faces Charges After Bank Theft

Police in Westlake, Ohio, have arrested a nursing aide following an investigation into the theft of 2,500 dollars from an 86 year old resident. The victim, who is blind and lived at an assisted living facility, had the funds withdrawn in five separate increments at a local bank.

The investigation began when the victim's sister noticed unusual activity on the account. Surveillance footage from the bank showed a person wearing a mask and medical scrubs conducting the unauthorized transactions. Facility management eventually identified the suspect as a night shift employee who had direct access to the victim's room.

Authorities report that the aide has been fired and is now facing charges for felony theft and credit card misuse. Because the victim was elderly and disabled, the suspect could face stiffer penalties if convicted.
