LIVEMVMT Labs, the original developer behind the Movement Network, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Court filings show the company holds between $100,001 and $1 million in assets against liabilities reaching up to $10 million. This move comes as a sharp surprise after the firm secured $38 million in a Series A funding round led by Polychain Capital back in April 2024.
The bankruptcy filing specifically names MVMT Labs as the debtor. Other entities like the Movement Network Foundation, Move Industries, and the MOVE token remain separate and are not part of the current court case. Move Industries CEO Torab confirmed that his company has no affiliation with the bankrupt entity, despite the complex web of service agreements that existed between these organizations prior to the filing.
Investors and creditors are now looking at the legal boundaries of the estate to determine which assets, intellectual property, and token holdings actually belong to MVMT Labs. Because the company shifted its operating structure to Move Industries late last year, the court must sort through various past transactions to see what property remains accessible to creditors.
While the Movement Network continues to operate, the bankruptcy process could lead to further scrutiny regarding past business dealings and asset transfers. Market observers will be watching the Delaware court proceedings closely to see how the recovery of claims impacts the broader ecosystem.
