Mount Sinai Hospital Settles Data Privacy Lawsuit for $220,000

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Florida has reached a $220,000 settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit. The case focused on claims that the hospital used tracking and advertising tools on its website that improperly sent patient information to outside companies. This data potentially included health statuses and payment details.

While the hospital denies any wrongdoing, the deal aims to close the litigation. People who used the hospital website or patient portal between June 10, 2021, and September 18, 2025, are eligible to join the settlement. Those who submit a claim form by September 28 could receive a pro rata cash payment estimated at $20.

In addition to the cash, class members are entitled to one year of free medical data monitoring services. A judge will review the agreement for final approval during a hearing on October 13. This case serves as a reminder of how digital tracking tools continue to impact privacy standards across various industries.
